It’s the season for giving and minor league hockey teams in Canada are getting into the act by hosting their annual Teddy Bear Toss nights.   The Calgary Hitmen set the bar last week by collecting over 25,000 bears in a single night:

Fans eager to toss the toys battled anticipation for 38 minutes until the first goal was scored. It then took 20 minutes for all of the 25,303 bears to be collected from the ice, the second-most in franchise history.

The video is pretty spectacular as the rain of bears goes on and on.  That rain has been going since 2003 a time period during which the Hitmen have collected 186,613 bears to distribute to local children’s charities and hospitals.
