This is slightly amazing, to say the least, and at the same time a bit frightening.  Scientists refer to this as a “Superior Mirage.”

“Amazing mirage appeared on Thursday at dusk at the Tunxi section of the Xin’an River in Huangshan City, east China’s Anhui Province, when continuous pouring rain had just stopped.”

Scientists and other people refer to this as a bad translation from chinese. “Entire floating city appears in the mist” or “entire city appears to float in the mist”? Video only shows mist above the flooding river in Huangshan city, no more, no less and certainly nothing mysterious.
The optical illusion is the fact that the buildings seem to float on the mist. The optical illusion is not the existence of the buildings, since they are real.
