Bucs Offensive Lineman Saves Three Teens From Gulf Waters

Finally a NFL player found something positive to do during the lockout. Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive lineman, Ted Larsen was able to successfully save three teens in distress from choppy gulf waters. Larsen said he and his girlfriend were fishing on his 24-foot boat when he heard the Coast Guard signal at 3 p.m. that a boater was in distress. He drove the boat to the coordinates that were given over the radio.

When he neared the teens location he was able to see two people in the water holding on to their kayak and the third still in the kayak.

“It could have been a big deal. You always read about overturned kayaks,” Larsen said. “It was good to help them. It just felt it was a good thing to do.”

Larsen assisted the teens (and their kayak) onto his boat and took them to shore.

“They were just glad to have their parent’s kayaks back and not sunk,” he joked.

“That’s an important lesson they learned,” he said. “You’ve got be aware of the weather. The ocean can turn on you.”
