With the Chicago Blackhawks in the last few games of trying to clinch a playoff birth, an injury is the last thing they need. Unfortunately, they got the injury and a bit of insult regarding the fashion in which it happened. Blackhawks forward Troy Brouwer went for a sizable shoulder check on Habs’ Lars Eller, missed by a mile, and was sent sprawling to the boards nailing his shoulder in the process. Brouwer was able to skate off the ice but did not return to the game. The Canadiens won 2-1 in overtime to clinch a playoff spot while the Blackhawks are tied for the seventh seed with 3 games to play.
Quenneville said he’d have a better assessment of Brouwer’s status on Wednesday.
