Kurt Cobain, lead singer and guitarist for rock band Nirvana, died 17 years ago today on April 5th, 1994. Nirvana sold over 25 million albums in the US and over 50 million records worldwide. Cobain committed suicide on April 5th and was found dead at his home in Seattle three days later on April 8th, 1994 from a shotgun wound to the head. Cobain was 27.
