During the second period of Tuesday night’s game between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks, Bruins forward Shawn Thornton took a skate to the face which opened him up pretty badly.
Chicago’s Fernando Pisani’s skate hit Thornton in the face, and it required 40-plus stitches and had to leave the game. According to ESPNBoston.com, a player on the Blackhawks bench said something to Thornton as referee Don Van Massenhoven helped him off the ice. You can see in the video how even when his face was spewing blood he had no issue with dropping the proverbial gloves. Pretty awesome in my opinion. Thornton said after the game:
“Something was said. Obviously I can’t swear when I talk to [the media], there was some stuff said that I’m not happy about. I’m going to find out who it was and I will deal with it in my own way.”
