Research In Motion, makers of BlackBerry brand handsets, come from Canada. Canada is packed with Australians. Both countries are former members of the British empire and you only need one trip to Whistler to know that Canada is Australia North.
Knowing all that you can only imagine how surprised I was when I went to write an Aussie friend a note and saw what BlackBerry spell check wanted me to switch to. Here’s a little demonstration of the error in an e-mail to myself:
I’m no expert on Australian culture but I’m guessing this little boo boo won’t be too popular down under. My recco to RIM is if you see Paul Hogan coming, run.
