EA SPORTS bucked the trend when Tiger’s infidelity was announced and joined Nike in continuing their sponsorship.  EA CEO John Riccitiello made comments at this weeks Reuters Global Media Summit that indicate the relationship may not last much longer:

This is no threat against Tiger. We’re with him because he has the promise of being the world’s best golfer. We have no plans to move away from him, but it’s a business relationship on the basis of we make the best golf game and he’s the best golfer. Both of those things need to be true in the long run for the partnership to make sense.

Ricitiello may say it’s not a threat but it’s hard to read that and not see it as a “win or we’re done with you” ultimatum.  EA’s recently launched Facebook golf game does not bear Tiger’s name and while EA claims that was the plan all along Riccitiello said games that don’t carry Woods’ name are being done to reach more gamers.  Not sure a lot of companies pay huge endorsement fees to people they don’t think add broad appeal to their products so that statement should make Eldrick very nervous.  One things for sure, Tiger won’t be comforted by Riccitiellos closing comment on the matter:

He sort of stuck with us for a very long time and we made great business together, and we’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a period of time.

Remains to be seen how long that period of time will be…

Tiger has given the terms “GOLF CLAP” a whole new meaning!

  • The trama of facing the world as a real human being has now been accomplished by Tiger. Now he can focus fully on his own life and the great opportunities his future holds. He is not a priest so he does not have to claim celebacy. He needs only to assert who he really is without apology and tell the tainted press who enjoys his discomfort to go to hell! Go Tiger! The greatest man who ever lived would say to you to go and regain your life with additional joys.

EA sport is effectively blackmailing Tiger. If they do drop him and they find the form that made himNo.1 I hope tiger goes and tell the to stick where the sun don’t shine. EA sports is real vultures.

Roger had a very bad year in 2009 and part of 2010. Nadal was on top form. He is struggling with injury a bit, but he had a huge year last year. The gifted sports men and women always have slumps by their sheer natural talent allow them to come back. So corporations run spor now. Who knows they mighty be fixing matches to certain people win or lose. So they might pay big bucks for telling a player lose.

I JUST WANTED TO SAY,LEAVE TIGER ALONE. IT SOUNDS LIKE TIGER IS THE ONLY HUMAN BEING THAT EVER MADE SUCH A MISTAKE. HIS PERSONAL LIFE IS HIS OWN. IF THE NEWS MEDIA WOULD QUIT MAKING A MOUNTAIN OUT OF SOMEONES PERSONAL LIFE,AS TIGER’S,THEN PEOPLE WOULD FORGET I AM SURE. IT’S TO BAD THAT THEY DO THIS,FOR IT IS NOT THE PERSON WHO DOES SOMETHING WRONG LIKE THIS THAT RUINS THEIR LIFE,IT IS NEWS MEDIA,WHO DRAW THEIR OWN CONCLUSIONS AND RUIN THEM.
SO TIGER WILL MAKE IT BACK TO THE TOP,I KNOW. SOMEBODY THAT GREAT DOES NOT STAY DOWN FOREVER. GOOD LUCK TIGER,I’M BEHIND YOU ALL THE WAY REGARDLESS WHAT ANYONE SAYS. GOD BLESS . GARY RIBBLE

I’m a Tiger fan & always will be. I love to watch him play Good or bad. He may not be #1 now but as far as I’m conserned he is still the Best Golfer in the world. If Tiger is playing in Tournaments I watch it. If he’s not then I don’t. You Lose Tiger you lose Golf fans. All the Best to Tiger.

  • That last statement is true for me also. I am ready to watch him build back confidence and blow past the field one sunday. It hasn’t happened but the good drama is like watching a movie until something really interesting happens. The man gave up half, when its all said and done, That is a hell of alot money to see go bye bye. That would shatter any man’s game. it ain’t like he can just forget about it. Every day for him has to start like “Damn THAT COSTS ALOT!! i know eventually he is gonna get drunk, get laid, wake up comfortable and proceed to put on a clinic ON ANY GIVEN SUNDAY So we watch.

Golf in America with out Tiger will go the way of the WPGA. The PGA in the US or for that matter in the world, will lose so much viewing that it will drop to the level of watching water polo in Sudan.
    Go Tiger

Iam the same as Fallen; “If Tiger is playing in Tournaments I watch it. If he’s not then I don’t. You Lose Tiger you lose Golf fans. All the Best to Tiger”

Its so sad for today’s professionals that their private life is made so public, especially for Tiger how difficult it would be to have women throwing themselves at you consistently and on a daily basis. I would like to see the average married man play off this kind of attention and never fall weak, we are made of the flesh and flesh attracts us. Real Tiger fans should consider him human and stand behind him waiting for the day that he returns to the old Tiger. I myself am still cheering for him as hard as I ever did and am waiting for the day he returns to his form not “OLD FORM ” his form and has the confidence to be the Man again.

  • Golf girl

I was hurt to see Tiger have to withdraw. I waited all week to watch him play. He is exciting and the best golfer in the world. These other guys are good but they are not great. There are only a few guys that hold that title and Tiger is one of them. I wish him the best, please take time to heal and come back mentally ready to kick some golf butt. Always a fan

  • Arty

I beleieve that the PGA is pressuring Tiger to lay off and not well. He has too much talent to play as bad as he has in the last tournaments. Thde PGA believes they can survive without Tiger, perhaps they can. Their ratings would drop considerably.Who else can p[ick up the slack that Tiger leaves if he quits the golf circuit. Shame on those who judge him, Are they saints?

  • john

They can rename it Rory Macilroy

    • Daniel

Jon, stop drinking its clouding your judgement. Rory can’t even stand in Tigers shadow.
Let me ask you this golf fan. Did you watch the FRY.Com tourny. The place was jamed packed with Tiger fans and they walked every hole with THE MAN.

Pull your head out Mr. Perfect

I hope he ends up in the toilet and it gets flushed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Every grown human living today has made mistakes, some costly and some not so costly. There are no Saints living that is sin free. We all are in this together and less not judge each other, because we all are sinners. Some fall deeper than others. Tiger is going to make a come back, as Mr Eastwood stated “it’s half time”, and watch for the come back, because you can’t keep a good man down, and Tiger is a good man, that created a lot of baggage for himself. He will shake off the baggage, and come back better than ever.
